Wakka Wild Flower Park

The Wakka Wild Flower Park is located on the biggest seaside grassland in Japan extending between the Sea of Okhotsk and Lake Saroma, and has been designated as a site of Hokkaido Heritage. More than 300 kinds of plants bloom here from May to October. The best flowering season is from July to August when many visitors rent bicycles and ride in the horse-drawn carriages to go round the fields and to admire flowers. In addition, the sunset observed along the Lake Saroma is the one of treasure of Kitami, and many citizens are proud of the scenery as the best sunset in the nation.
